Great Performance!!!
I love this video for so many reasons. First, “Heartburn” is a kickin’ tune. Two, her voice is amazing. Three, the backup singers and band where killin’ it, and Four, she looked fabulous….and OH! those legs in silver shimmer.
From the 1st guitar rift, reminiscent of the 1970 blaxploitation film soundtracks, the groove is, and remains funky. Alicia Keys’ strut within the shadow, is just so cool, and so fine…Foxy Brown, Cleopatra Jones and Shaft would be so proud. Tina Turner too, with all that slick and funky shimmying. Can’t get enough

I am a huge fan of MAGIC….especially the talents of DAVID BLAINE
His magic is unusually dark and scary at times, but always leaves me breathless
Let me share one of my favourite DAVID BLAINE series, “REAL OR MAGIC”
He creates visual illusions that WILL blow your mind….and socks off.

PhD, Activist, Educator, Spoken Word Poet and Sista: Jamie Lyiscott
It all started when Spoken word artist Jamila Lyiscott was complimented on being articulate, and decided to reject the acclamation. This tri-lingual-ist is a powerhouse, exploring the challenges of being “articulate” in a society that misjudges the use of language. She brings IT!…with full force, passion and emotion, the hypocrisy of a society’s acceptance, and

Ok y’all! how many of you LOVE THIS TUNE, and remember rollerskating to this tune, in your fanciest dance moves?
Well, unfortunately NOT ME! I LOVE THIS TUNE and only imagine in my mind what this would all look like if I could only rollerskate
Anyways this song makes me move…nonetheless
Funky Friday Song of the Day- Bobby Byrd
Simple…”I Know You Got Soul” is just SOOO DAMN FUNKY! This 1971 Hit with The JB’s and Bobby Byrd is the nastiest of the funkiest.
So much that Eric B and Rakim sampled this funky beat for their 1987 hit with the same name. (starts at 2:30)
Funky Friday Song of the Day- Barry White and Love Unlimited Orchestra
1974, this song came out and my parents were all over it!
We had all of Barry White’s albums, singles, various versions etc. Household name in our home
I remember seeing Barry White on Soul Train and thinking to myself “….this brotha is a bad mutha”. His slick hair, his style, his VOICE
He didn’t make me melt, but I did pay attention to his music. It was unique at that time with the Love Unlimited Orchestra, and I believe still stands up to this day. It was real music, with real musicians and a real band
1974 killed us with some damn good music
