First, I LOVE CHAKA KHAN.
She has one of the most powerful soulful voices I’ve ever heard, and one of the most sharpest hip moves to this day.
“Once You Get Started”, is one of the 1st 45’s that I remember hearing in my house. And I would play it over and over again. It’s a Soulful tune with a whole lotta Funk
First let me say, I love female MCs….
I just discovered this tune after my weekend viewing of HOT 97 interviews with Ebro and Rosenberg
With my constant curiosity of new music, and my obsession with “celebratism”, out comes the wonderfulness of Nitty Scott MC.
I had never heard of her and honestly was attracted to her “look”.
I continued to listen and found out that she’s an MC, from Brooklyn, and thanks to youtube I discovered her collaboration with other artist. This one, with Tanya Morgan. I love the sound because it reminds me of summer
Here’s another great tune, with the amazing rapper/poet Kendrick Lamar
This tune has a very Digable Planet feel and she sounds identical to Ladybug Mecca, from the same group
Fela Kuti…king of Afrobeat.
I love everything about his music. The 1st time I heard him was in the 80’s along with King Sunny Ade on radio station CKLN, or was it CFNY..not sure. Nonetheless it changed my life, for the better. It opened my spirit up to African music and I feel it deep in my soul.
Zombie is a favorite of mine
In his honour, AFRODELIK has created a unique tshirt, celebrating the king of Afrobeat.

WELCOME BACK D’ANGELO! We are so happy that you’ve graced us with more amazing music.
In celebration of this man’s first album in 14 years: Black Messiah, I elect D’Angelo as this week’s Afrodelik Funky Friday Song of the Day. He is a true ambassador of tha funk…you know that nasty stanky funk
I first heard D’Angelo perform “Sugar Daddy” for the 1st time on the BET awards in 2012. It was unforgettable
A few days ago I experienced Stevie Wonder Live, for the 1st time, and it was one of the greatest concerts I’ve ever seen
This man is a genius, his lyrics are deep and his vision is spiritual and real
Stevie Wonder’s music from the 70’s is my favourite Stevie Wonder and “Living for the City” is one of the best
Labelle…how do I describe my love for thee?
They come from the planet Funkensty, where you wear the most amazingly outrageous outfits and belt out the sweet nectar of smooth funk ‘n soul, whilst being beautiful, sexy, and sing like there’s no tomorrow
Patti Labelle, Sarah Dash and the amazing Nona Hendryx….Ladies U is FIYAH!
Undoubtedly, one of the most funkiest bands ever
Graham Central Station know how to bring it DOWN to the nastiest rawness of what is FUNKY
This song brings me to “Church”, and I am a dedicated member of THIS congregation
If your feet don’t move to this tune…I don’t know what will
Miisssssyyyyy!…and Timbaland. Like Tom and Jerry, Batman and Robin, Fred and Ernie, Sanford and Lamont…
A DYNAMIK DUO with a whole lotta funky beats that are CWWAAAZY!
I first heard Missy doing this song and saw The dancing in this video is out of this world, out of the box and FUNKY!
