Funky Friday Song of the Day- Fela Anikulapo Kuti

Fela Kuti…king of Afrobeat.
I love everything about his music. The 1st time I heard him was in the 80’s along with King Sunny Ade on radio station CKLN, or was it CFNY..not sure. Nonetheless it changed my life, for the better. It opened my spirit up to African music and I feel it deep in my soul.
Zombie is a favorite of mine
In his honour, AFRODELIK has created a unique tshirt, celebrating the king of Afrobeat.

Funky Weekend Song of the Day- Graham Central Station

Undoubtedly, one of the most funkiest bands ever
Graham Central Station know how to bring it DOWN to the nastiest rawness of what is FUNKY
This song brings me to “Church”, and I am a dedicated member of THIS congregation
If your feet don’t move to this tune…I don’t know what will

Friday Funk Song of the Day

The Brothers Johnson…what can I say? They look all plain and all but damn they can get down…smoothly.
This group and this song are definitely memories of my Soul Train days….doin’ the bump and really feelin’ my body move, and I’m pretty sure I’ve heard this tune in several film soundtracks. Doesn’t it sound familiar?
I love dancing to this tune!

Funky Friday Song of the Day- Midnight Star

I first heard this song on one of my favourite radio stations, WBLK. I would tape songs using my cassette tapes and remember listening and LOVING IT!
I know you’ve all done this…taping the dj at the end of the song, because you didn’t reach for the PAUSE button quick enough. Well this song had the DJ at the end of the song and after a while I’m thinking its part of the song. (you all know what I mean)
