I saw it all over social media and people were just raving about this new album. I have to admit when I first heard of Solange, I appreciated her style and uniqueness, but wasn’t grooving so much to her sound.
But this song did it for me. “Don’t Touch My Hair”, is an anthem for all black people, and I love it
The groove is amazing, and the chorus is even better. I love the creativity of the music video. If I was to ever watch live artwork come alive in a prestigious museum, it would look like Solange’s newest video…its that Beautiful.
YEP! “Crossing Over the Bridge” is that genuine 70’s soul sound with no overproducing on this tune. Tha real deal. Great music, a simple tune..just RIGHT. Inez Foxx is gritty, raw and soulfunky. Tha Real Deal.
WOW! What an incredible voice!
Amy Winehouse is one of those singers with a natural talent. It’s in her. It’s part of her. She’s a 21st century version of the 60’s. A true beauty and Talent, missed, but never forgotten. “Tears Dry on their Own” is a CLASSIK!
…and if you haven’t seen “Amy” the documentary, you need to. Saw the true nature of her spirit and fell in love.

I love this video for so many reasons. First, “Heartburn” is a kickin’ tune. Two, her voice is amazing. Three, the backup singers and band where killin’ it, and Four, she looked fabulous….and OH! those legs in silver shimmer.
From the 1st guitar rift, reminiscent of the 1970 blaxploitation film soundtracks, the groove is, and remains funky. Alicia Keys’ strut within the shadow, is just so cool, and so fine…Foxy Brown, Cleopatra Jones and Shaft would be so proud. Tina Turner too, with all that slick and funky shimmying. Can’t get enough
As an admirer and fan of Miss Nina Simone, I cannot help but wonder what life was for people around her. She stood up for what she believed in, sometimes in the most unconventional way. She spoke her truth whether people liked it or not. She was real and raw
As quoted from her daughter Lisa Simone: “..people think Nina Simone’s persona appeared only when she performed, Nina Simone was always Nina Simone”, and that was the problem. This activist stood up for racism, injustice towards black people, and sang about the horrors in life. Some of these horrors, ironically continue to happen today. Check out the newest trailer of “What Happened Miss Simone”, premiering on Netflix Friday, June 26, 2015. It depicts her life during those tumultuous times, and life for those around her.
In honour of Nina Simone, Afrodelik has created a tshirt depicting the power that she resonates, and the true beauty of her honesty. Purchase yours here Available in MEN, WOMEN and KIDS style.
