Funky Friday Song of the Day- Barry White and Love Unlimited Orchestra

1974, this song came out and my parents were all over it!
We had all of Barry White’s albums, singles, various versions etc. Household name in our home
I remember seeing Barry White on Soul Train and thinking to myself “….this brotha is a bad mutha”. His slick hair, his style, his VOICE
He didn’t make me melt, but I did pay attention to his music. It was unique at that time with the Love Unlimited Orchestra, and I believe still stands up to this day. It was real music, with real musicians and a real band
1974 killed us with some damn good music

Funky Friday Song of the Day- Graham Central Station

In 1974, Graham Central Station’s hit “Can You Handle It” reached #9 on the BILLBOARDS chart
This song takes me back to my preteen years, with my parents, purchasing the newest 45s, and being so excited to go home and get down to it. This was ONE of them.
Graham Central Station’s style is an inspiration for all characters created through Afrodelik’s AFROCITY collection. Lovin’ the hair Larry!

Funky Friday Song of the Day- Ike and Tina Turner

I feel mix emotion when I watch this performance, but I know Tina Turner wouldn’t want me to go back to the past in that way…so let me just say “Nutbush City Limits” is a crazy tune..one of my favourites. Tina kills it, the dancers are crazy, and the band is on point
In Toronto in 2008, I had the pleasure in seeing Miss Tina Turner perform at the age of 69, at the Air Canada Centre. It was one of the most unforgettable, amazing, inspiring and fantastic concerts I’ve ever seen..oh and she IS a sexy woman.

Respect to Beyonce, but let’s not forget before Beyonce, there was TINA TURNER
This practicing buddhist is a definite shero of mine

Funky Weekend Song of the Day- Graham Central Station

Undoubtedly, one of the most funkiest bands ever
Graham Central Station know how to bring it DOWN to the nastiest rawness of what is FUNKY
This song brings me to “Church”, and I am a dedicated member of THIS congregation
If your feet don’t move to this tune…I don’t know what will
